Frequently Asked Questions
Is Autism the childhood form of schizophrenia?
Autism and schizophrenia are two separate conditions. The belief that these conditions overlap was common during the early 20th century when it was labelled ‘infantile psychosis’. But researchers have long since established that both conditions have different causes and different symptoms. It is possible to be affected by both conditions, but that would mean the person has two separate disorders, neither one caused by the other.
